Getting to Dalton Park

Dalton Park is situated in the heart of County Durham, and centrally within the North East region just off the A19.

We’re a 5 minute drive from Durham Heritage Coast and Seaham Harbour town. 20 minutes south of Newcastle, 15 minutes south of Sunderland, 30 minutes north of Middlesbrough and 15 minutes east of Durham City.

A19/A182 Roadworks Notice: We would like to advise you that the A19 and A182 highways next to Dalton Park are undergoing roadworks managed by Durham County Council until Spring 2025. The roadworks will improve traffic flow and journey times within the local area. We appreciate your patience and understand your frustration during these works and apologise for any inconvenience caused. Please note any abuse directed towards our staff due to any traffic congestion caused by the roadworks will NOT be tolerated.

We are conducting essential works to our car park and connecting road network on Monday 14th October – Wednesday 16th October. Works will mostly be conducted overnight to keep disruption to a minimum.  During this time our disabled and parent & child bays in the M&S Car Park will unfortunately be closed for the duration of Monday the 14th October. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause to your visit. Please note there are other disabled and parent & child bays available within other areas of our car park.

Please note, essential carriageway resurfacing on the Northbound Carriageway between  B1285 Murton and A1018 Ryhope Spur Interchanges.

The works are planned to start on Sunday 18th August 2024 for a duration of 2 weeks. During this period, the A19 northbound carriageway will be closed to traffic between A182 Cold Hesledon Interchange and B1404 Seaton Lane Interchange each night between 8pm and 6am, except Saturdays. 

The diversion will be signed via B1285 and B1404 to rejoin the A19 (T) at B1404 Seaton Lane northbound entry slip road.

We encourage visitors to allow more time travelling to and leaving Dalton Park or shop during our quieter times which are Mon to Fri, 10:00am to 12:00pm or 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Find out more about the roadworks project here.

From the A19 north or south bound take the B1285 which is signposted for Murton, then follow the signs for Dalton Park.

Ample FREE car parking is available for all Dalton Park shoppers with 1,500 car spaces and 7 coach bays. We also have designated electric vehicle charging points situated around The Dancing Betty and Morrisons.

And drivers can rest easy while they enjoy a great day shopping as Dalton Park have been awarded the Park Mark Safer Parking Award for 13 years running, which means it is deemed secure to a police preferred specification.

The nearest train station to Dalton Park is Seaham (serviced by Northern Rail) just a 5 minute car journey away.

Durham Rail Station is approx 15 minutes car journey away.
