Experience Dalton Park

Once you’ve explored the bright and airy shopping malls of Dalton Park you can also discover 55 acres of landscaped Parkland that are opposite the shopping centre.

In 2003, over 600,000 cubic metres of colliery spoil were moved to make way for our buildings and car parks. The excavated material was repurposed to form the Parkland’s hills and valleys, enriched with recycled organic waste to establish woodlands, wetlands and meadows.

The Park features three signposted walks, with wildlife such as ducks, geese and wading birds, while the largest lake serves as a balancing pond.

The new park has a full suite of exciting and interactive equipment for children aged between 2 and 10 years.

It includes a number of accessible, inclusive features such as an extra wide slide, easy access ramps, and in-ground roundabout suitable for wheelchairs.

Children can also enjoy games and puzzles, musical elements, and role play with a shop counter and captain’s wheel.

Please note: The park is open all year around, weather permitting. If the weather is particularly inclement, the play park will be closed as it is not covered and becomes very slippery when it gets wet.
