Weโre delighted to inform visitors that the Dalton Park Active Travel Transport Hub road improvements will commence from Summer 2026 to Spring 2027, providing a more seamless travel experience.
A total of ยฃ3.2 million has been allocated to Dalton Park Outlet & Outdoors by the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority (North East MSA) via Durham County Council, towards the delivery of the Dalton Park Transport Hub and Active Travel scheme. The improvement works are designed to enhance public transport reliability, reduce congestion, and provide more sustainable access for visitors, employees, and local residents.
What to expect?
- Installation of two new upgraded bus shelters next to Cineworld and M&S with seating, Real Time Passenger Information displays and lighting improvements
- Reconfiguration of the internal highway layout along with localised carriageway widening and resurfacing works, meaning buses will be able to travel through Dalton Park instead of turning at one end as they currently do
- Upgrade of the existing carriageway by creating new lanes within the park, to support with reducing congestion and improving bus journey times during peak hours
- Additional car parking spaces including EV

Wembley gate entrance will be closed from 29th June to 13th July for road improvement works. Please utilise the other walking route that has been signposted. We apologise for any inconvenience caused during this time.
