We are thrilled that one of our security officers, Connor Turnbull has been shortlisted in the search for Durham Tourism Superstar 2022 in partnership with Visit County Durham and The Northern Echo.
As a retail attraction that welcomes over 3.6 million visitors per year, we require a security team that can not only keep the park safe and secure but also keeps our visitors coming back time and time again.
Why vote for Connor?
Connor has worked at Dalton Park (part of Aston Services Group) for 5 years as a cleaner, but his passion for customer service made him stand out. In 2021 after the pandemic, Connor was promoted into the Security team and has flourished ever since.
From first aid to fun and games, come rain or shine, Connor always has a smile on his face and a spring in his step. Visitors know him by name and he can be seen smiling on patrol across the park, greeting shoppers as he goes, but always maintaining the impeccable level of service and vigilance required as a security officer.
Wise above his 25 years, Connor exudes empathy, impeccable communication skills, and impressive knowledge of the area. Most recently, Connor supported a visiting couple from Belgium with their holiday to Seaham, pointing out the best place to get fish and chips and where to park their caravan, before showing them to our visitor information point!!!
Connor was recognised in April 2022 as our Employee of the Month and if we could, we would award him this accolade every year. This is why Connor deserves to be Durham’s next Tourism Superstar.
Security can be an often overlooked, challenging, and demanding profession – and Connor does his job and so much more – putting himself forward for mental health first aid courses, staying late when there’s been an emergency on-site, or simply being a listening ear for many of our brands – he is a real asset to County Durham’s visitor economy.
Connor is the epitome of excellent service within a North East visitor attraction.
