Dalton Park ‘switches on’ to sugarcane and recycled bottle decorations

Christmas has arrived at Dalton Park… and it’s got a recyclable touch. November 10th saw the North East’s largest outlet centre become even more merry and bright than usual, with its annual festive lights switch-on, but this time it’s more sustainable.

This year’s Christmas display features a host of festive photo opportunities including a giant light-up polar bear, Santa’s selfie sleigh, a 6 metre Christmas tree in the centre of the outlet, and a sparkly, snowflake-filled walk-through display arch.

All the decorations installed at Dalton Park have been manufactured using Bio-Print technology, which means they are entirely recyclable and biodegradable at the end of life.

Made from GM free sugar cane, they emit 10 x less carbon than traditional motif designs during manufacture.

The walk-through Christmas tree and snowflake archway are also made from Recy-Print, which is manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

Centre Manager Richard Kaye explains: “As always, we wanted to make sure our Christmas launch put everyone in a fantastic festive mood; the event was spectacular – with music, fairground rides, live entertainment, fireworks, and lots of delicious food.

“When it comes to seasonal decorations, we strive to create a real ‘wow’ factor, without compromising on our commitment to sustainability, so partnering with an eco-friendly supplier was the perfect solution.

“We’re delighted with the new display; the decorations look spectacular both day and night and we know we’ve done our bit for the environment… the Dalton Park team are sure to be on Santa’s nice list!
