Morrisons is opening a new supermarket today at Dalton Park in Murton with the creation of over 300 new jobs in full and part-time roles.
The 30,000 sq ft store will feature Morrisons famous Market Street counters as well as a host of services to help customers shop for groceries both in store and from home.
Bakers will bake bread from scratch, butchers will cut meat just the way customers want it and fishmongers can give tips on how to prepare and cook seafood.
Other key features of the new store include:
● Take-away freshly cooked hot pizza
● Nutmeg clothing including baby & kids, womenswear and menswear
● A Home range of cookware and soft furnishings
● A wide selection of Free From products
● A florist selling bouquets as well as single stem flowers which can be made into an arrangement for any occasion
● A Barista bar serving freshly ground coffee and pastries
● Once lockdown restrictions are lifted, a 152 seater Café will open serving a wide selection of food and drinks throughout the day
As well as shopping in the store, customers can choose to have groceries delivered to their door or ‘Click & Collect’ at the store by visiting Morrisons.com. In addition, elderly or vulnerable customers, or anyone who is self-isolating, can order groceries over the phone and pay when they’re delivered the next day, by Morrisons. Anyone wishing to use the service should call 0345 611 6111 and select option 5 .
The new Dalton Park store also has a Community Room that local groups such as new parents, charities, book clubs and craft groups can all book for free. The room is designed to help community groups deal with the increasing cost of hiring meeting spaces and groups that would like to book the room can email Stephanie Carrel on [email protected] .
Stephanie and her team have already been out and about helping the local community while the store has been under construction. They recently supported the refurbishment of Murton’s Community Centre and the local community will be recognised within the store thanks to a photo competition that has been organised – the winning photo will be displayed in a mural within the Community Room.
Dalton Park Store Manager, Jen Weston, said: “We know the residents of Murton have been eagerly anticipating the opening of this store and we’re pleased it has come at a time when the local community needs us more than ever. Today, they get a brand new Morrisons store with skilled foodmaking at the heart of it and plenty of useful services.”
